id be glad to give you my opinion. okay, i love the first bag..mainly-just because of the colors. that plum is to DIE FOR. its a beautiful bag.
BUT, i have a satchel-like bag (the shape of the second one) from COACH. and it is PERFECT. i seriously carry it year round and its the perfect size and shape. it fits so well on my arm and will carry EVERYTHING i could possible want. i really love the structure of it.
although the first bag has insanely amazing color, the structure of those tote bags is not great. depending on what kind of bag you need..
1) a tote with a few pockets -maybe for a weekender, carry-on bag, maybe a few notebooks
OR
2) an everyday handbag with many pockets & very spacious.. my bag is right next to me.. it is the brown signature print with burgundy leather accents (its from 2005) i currently am carrying.. all my makeup, a waterbottle, my keys, candy, chapstick, my large checkbook-style COACH wallet and have an excessive amount of room left to spare.
based solely on practicality.. my vote is for the second one. but again, its all in what YOU need. =)
