18th Birthday Pleaseeee Help!?
I'm turning 18 in a couple weeks and am planning on throwing a party and need some ideas!
I'm thinking of doing a Great Gatsby theme because I already have the perfect vintage Christian Dior dress. But is that stupid?
Also should I opt for classier cocktails and skip the tequila shots and jello shooters? Stick to bottles of champagne and premium vodkas like Grey Goose?
Also, since the Great Gatsby took place on Long Island I was thinking about having the party at our summer house in the Hamptons. The only issue is I, along with a majority of the guests, live in Manhattan, which is a 90minute drive. Do you guys think that's too far?

I think the theme is great- just remember to make sure everyone who would be coming properly knows what the theme entails. 
Tequila shots tend to make you pass out very quickly if you drink too many and so you would possibly end up with people puking on your lovely dress. (Not something you'd want as I imagine it might not be the easiest thing to clean.) Jelly shooters when made not too strong can be consumed in large amounts without fear of too much puke-although this depends on what people are drinking with them. Classier cocktails would be more grownup and elegant. After all your only going to turn 18 once in your lifetime- you'd want to be able to remember it wouldn't you? As for the venue if people were staying there and not having to drive back then that shouldn't be a problem. You could also go for the option of hiring a couple of stretch 14 seater limos to bring your guests there. This could end up being a rather pricey option but one your guests will undoubtedly remember and it will make them feel like a movie star! You could also get a whole bunch of disposable digital cameras and give one to each guest- a cheap way to get pictures from the night and much more likely to have everyone in it. A bonus most often the pictures will look more natural and not staged. Hope this helps you and good luck! Have a great 18th hon!!!
