Can you wear a navy blue argyle sweater vest over a light blue oxford shirt?

Does a navy blue argyle sweater vest work over a light blue oxford shirt? Will a black sweater vest work better? What if I'm wearing a navy blue jacket over the ensemble, which then? Or should I go with a gray jacket?

The 'sweater vests' are a touchy style - some guys make it work, others turn out looking like private school students. If you're wearing a jacket over the top then yes it could work but I would suggest a proper vest as opposed to the knitted vest. A v-neck sweater looks better in my opinion. Avoid the grey jacket unless its deliciously fitted at the waist and slimming along the arms. Have fun and suit up!
